Our preschool child development program is well beyond a daycare, with a milestone based curriculum that provides the early learning experiences three and four year olds need for a foundation as they approach school age. At Phoenix Children’s Academy family of schools, children are given the opportunity to discover and explore in a rich child-centered environment, supported by small and large group activities throughout the day. Our child development preschool program promotes a balance of positive early learning and play in the daily schedule, realizing that “play” is children’s “work.”

A four year old preschool class should be a place that inspires curiosity and learning. Elementary and Middle School

With the challenges our public school system is facing from funding to over-crowded classrooms, the demand for private education continues to grow. The elementary and middle school grades are the “foundation years” when children develop a range and depth of knowledge, social skills and an interest in continuing to develop their education. Integrity, attitude, work ethic, confidence and a sense of personal responsibility set the stage for future learning habits.

The right school can make a profound difference in a child’s academic education, social development and future. Since 1993, our elementary and middle schools have partnered with parents to develop high-achieving, confident young scholars. Through our small class sizes and our close knit family, the staff can identify and develop each student’s unique talents and capabilities.

At most elementary and middle schools, 25 – 35 students share the same classroom and the attention of one teacher whose energy is spread across several subjects. These limited resources may not allow even the best public school to offer specialty classes and electives that many of our schools offer in art, music, drama, and other important and enriching experiences. Many of our schools average a 17 -20 student/teacher ratio and students are taught on an individualized level which matches the students’ abilities. Hands-on learning is also integrated through science investigations and field trips.

A good education is not always guaranteed by the latest textbooks, educational trends, or computers in every classroom. The best education is one in which students respect themselves, teachers and others, and where the students assume responsibility themselves.

Montessori Program

We want to help children think for themselves as individuals in an atmosphere of cooperation and community. Maria Montessori often quoted, “Help me to do it by myself,” describing each child’s expression of an inner need for independence. Our program emphasizes this need by encouraging investigation and discovery with direct hand-on experiences. The curriculum includes all of the traditional Montessori areas of Practical Life, Sensorial, Math, Language, Geography, Science, Art and Music. The children also practice “Grace and Courtesy” which emphasizes respect of one’s self, for others, for the environment and for one’s work while promoting academic excellence, creativity, and self-motivation and teaching a lifetime love of learning.

We use the A Beka® Christian program, a phonics-based reading-readiness curriculum, which also encompasses math and science.
